Activities for all ages
Birthday Sundays–On the 4th Sunday of each month, we gather together immediately following the 9:30am Worship Service to celebrate the birthdays coming up in the next month. Those that have birthdays coming up have the opportunity to share, we sing, pray, and pass out cupcakes!
Anointing with Oil Sundays–Whenever there is a 5th Sunday in the month, we offer Anointing with Oil for healing following both Worship Services for any who desire to receive it.
Rummage Sale–This is a big event each summer! Items to be sold may be donated to the church during the week prior to the sale. See Sharen Ott to volunteer or if you have any questions.
Sportscamp–Each summer our kids, youth, and adult volunteers spend a week learning about God, playing, and pushing themselves to earn more running feet than they did the year before! On the Sunday following camp, our Worship Service is dedicated to recognizing their achievements. Our 2017 theme is “Hero Central” and camp will be held June 26-30. Registration will occur in the spring.
Sportscamp and VBS Festival—The Sunday after Sportscamp and VBS is hopping her at WHUMC! All the Sportscamp and VBS participants are here to celebrate their week and we have a festival with food and carnival type games. Loads of fun! The 2017 festival will be on July 2 at noon. Please see Betsy Race if you would like to volunteer to help with the festival!
Canadian Retreat–Mike and Laura Tradowsky have a beautiful property on Lake Caribou in northern Ontario. Each summer they offer an open invitation for our congregation to join them for a week of retreat there. For 2017 there will be two options: July 10-14 will be a family friendly retreat experience geared toward kids and youth and their families -or- July 17-21 will be an adult retreat. Kids and adults alike have a wonderful time fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Each year there is a theme for devotions and activities for all.
Fall Festival–A time of crafts and games for the kids, chili cook off, bake off, and lots of fellowship for all! Annually in October.
Soup Sunday–Our whole congregation is invited to this delicious day of soup and bread prepared by members of our congregation. This event takes place on the Sunday before Thanksgiving at noon.
Hanging of the Greens–Members of the congregation gather together to decorate the church for the Advent and Christmas seasons on a Sunday in November.
Music Sundays–At various times throughout the year, our Worship Center is filled with vocal and instrumental talents of our Praise Team, Worship Choir, and others in our congregation.
Lent Event–Each year during lent we have dinner and a study for all ages on Thursday nights.
Fellowship Dinners–Occasionally throughout the year, our congregation gathers for a meal and fellowship, at the church and at outside the church. Dinners are announced in the newsletter and bulletin.
