Royal Family KIDS

Royal Family KIDS is an international nonprofit organization started in 1985 to provide a week of overnight Camp during the summer as well as a monthly Club and Mentoring program during the school year for local children who have experienced abuse, abandonment, or neglect.  With the attention of one camp counselor for every two children, the campers enjoy a wonderful week of fun and worship.  There is swimming, fishing, games, a Tea Party, crafts, music, and wood working.  Since many never had a birthday party, one day is designated as “Everyone’s Birthday!” with a party, presents and a birthday cake for each child.  All children leave Camp with a picture album of themselves enjoying their Camp activities with other children and staff.  They also receive their own Bible and an MP3 player loaded with Camp songs. Our Club and Mentoring Program, begun in 2014, allows us to build a year-round relationship with our campers and take the sadness out of the last day of Camp. We meet with the children for several hours once a month during the school year for structured activities and mentoring in a safe and friendly atmosphere.

Project Hope for the Homeless

Project Hope for the Homeless

Did you ever consider that through a tragic event, loss of job or illness, you could be in the position to lose your home?  This is a reality for many in our area.  Project Hope is a homeless shelter located in Painesville that answers to this crying need.  They provide temporary housing and many other support services to help people get back on their feet.  The shelter is currently finishing a large expansion that will more than double their capacity and increase the services that they are able to offer.  Visit the Project Hope website to learn more.

How you can help:

  • For many years our church has provided the dinner meal on the third Sunday of each month.  We need volunteers to cook and deliver these meals.  If you would like to sign up to prepare a meal, please contact Anne Horvath at [email protected]
  • Tax-deductible donations can be made to WHUMC with Project Hope on the memo line.

Elder Care Program

Elder Care Ministry is an exciting outreach ministry of WHUMC. We currently have the opportunity to bring Christ to six assisted living facilities in Lake, Cuyahoga, and Geauga counties. One hundred and fifty residents are ministered to twice a month. A regular collateral blessing to this ministry is the opportunity to also share the faith with staff and family members at the care facilities. Christ is offered and shared through scripture, song, prayer, and fellowship. Bible studies are additionally offered in two facilities.

How you can help:

We are currently looking for some new people who feel called to this area of ministry.
