The Children’s ministries at WHUMC are for children birth through 5th grade. We offer classes, programs, and activities designed to build a firm foundation in Christ, have fun, and to reach outside our church to spread God’s love in the world.
Children birth up to 4 years are welcome in our church nursery during Sunday morning worship services and during many of our classes and programs. The nursery is located across from our Worship center and parents receive a pager when children are dropped off so that they can be paged if needed. Age appropriate lessons are taught during the time the children are in the nursery. Our nursery is staffed with loving and caring adults who have all been background checked.
Kids’ Quest Sunday School–Sunday mornings during the 9:30 & 11:00 Worship Services (except the first Sunday), children are divided into two classes for age appropriate lessons and activities. Children preschool through 5th grade are released to the Fellowship Hall early in the worship service. They may be picked up from the Fellowship Hall following worship.
Kids’ Choir: A team of volunteers lead our children’s music practice on Sundays from 10:30 to 10:45 in the Fellowship Hall. They perform about once a quarter at the end of the 9:30am service and the beginning of the 11am service or during other special times throughout the year.
Fall Festival–We celebrate fall with a special event for all ages each year, including Trunk or Treat, games and crafts for children.
Angel Breakfast–This special event is our Children’s Christmas celebration and includes a pancake breakfast, crafts, carols, and a special story time. Families are invited to attend and have the opportunity to have a professional photo taken in front of our Worship Center Christmas tree.
Easter Egg Hunt–For children preschool through 5th grade in the spring.
Vacation Bible School–Children ages 3 to 5 years are invited to come to the church each day from 8:45-11:30am for a lesson, activities, games, and crafts.
Sportscamp–Children who have completed kindergarten and up. The program includes running, devotion time, music, games, crafts, fellowship and fun. We end each day of camp with swimming at the Willoughby pool. For a more detailed description of Sportscamp, please click on the following: What is WHUMC Sportscamp
